Controller remapping tool running

Technical code : REMAP_TOOL_RUNNING

What it means

JoyToKey or AntiMicroX is running while Visual Pinball X has a joystick button assigned. This may be intentional.

Why it happens

If the same cabinet button is mapped to a keyboard key in the remapping tool, Visual Pinball X and that tool may both react to a single press. Running one of these tools alongside VPX can also be a deliberate choice. The scan does not read the tool's profile and does not confirm any overlap. It only looks at VPX's legacy settings format (10.7 and earlier, in the Windows registry); the VPX 10.8.1 format (INI file) is not read.

How to fix it

If a button acts twice in game, remove that button from the remapping tool's profile, or close the tool while VPX runs. Otherwise there is nothing to do.

How Pincab Toolbox detects it

The free scanner checks the following:

The process "JoyToKey.exe" or "antimicrox.exe" is running, and VPX's Windows registry ("HKCU\Software\Visual Pinball\VP10\Player") holds at least one assigned joystick button with a nonzero value; it is read only when no standard VPX 10.8 "VPinballX.ini" file is present. The scan closed nothing and changed nothing.

Check your own pincab

Pincab Toolbox is a free Windows scanner for Visual Pinball X and PinUP Popper. It finds and explains problems like this one. No account, no telemetry.
