Pincab Toolbox version history
What each published version changed, newest first.
1.2.4 ·
- PinballX and PinballY: a note reports a missing executable, table folder, game file or empty VP parameters. Read-only, nothing is changed.
- Popper: if an emulator's folders point to a missing drive letter while the same folders exist under another letter, a note says so.
- Popper: tables kept in collection subfolders and declared in Popper are now analyzed (read-only).
- Scanner: the “xx similar results” line unfolds with the “Show all” button, so you can see every line.
- Export: each report's path stays in its group, even when the text does not name the file (a VPX crash, for example).
- Repair: a link already in place to the right target counts as done. A path containing ^ & % ! | < > " is never offered nor passed to cmd.exe.
- Serum: an empty (0-byte) .cRZ or .cROM file no longer counts as present, for the scan and for Repair.
- Update: the startup check writes its outcome to startup.log. No = stop offering this version; Cancel, the close button or Esc = later.
1.2.3 ·
- Repair: an old Serum color cache (.cROMc) rejected by DMD Extensions 2.4 and later is set aside, not deleted, if its .cRZ or .cROM is next to it. Undoable.
- DOF: real failures written in its log are now reported (LedWiz, Pinscape, PacLed64, FTDI board, missing Teensy, unreadable configuration file).
- VPX crash: the crash.txt report is read, with the date and place of the crash. A third-party module in the stack is named, never presented as the cause.
- Notes: JoyToKey or AntiMicroX running while VPX already reads the gamepad; one button shared by different actions (coins/credits, plunger/lockbar: silent).
- Hard-coded paths: a path stored in a variable the script no longer uses is no longer reported. A DOF installed elsewhere (C:\DirectOutput) is found.
- Scanner: the “PC mode (no pincab)” box also ticks the backglass box and turns the multi-screen check green, for a desktop PC. Applies at the next scan.
- More accurate texts: no more “most common cause” that was never measured.
- Under the hood: moved to .NET 10 (supported until the end of 2028); the zip's welcome files are in English.
1.2.2 ·
- Music and AltSound: no more false alert on accented names (“Motörhead”) or on altsound.csv names wrapped in doubled quotes.
- Undo says why a file was not put back. Repair can rename a wheel .apng left under its old name. Hard-coded paths: OBS no longer reported missing.
- Tables tab: the “Table: … ✕ Show all” pill brings back the full list without the page jumping by itself. The mouse Back button works too.
- Detail panel: “Copy the link to this page” copies the problem page's address to paste on a forum; the button no longer opens the website.
- PuP-Pack expected by the script but missing: reported in the Scan and in “Check a table”, which now rates a missing backglass like the Scan.
- Scan: a spare dmddevice copy carrying the Windows mark is now info, not Critical. A “(repaired…)” copy no longer repeats the alerts.
- Updates: the version letter (1.0f) is kept, release notes are worth reading, and “Ignore this update” wakes up again when the version changes.
- Scanner: “Review last scan” reopens the last report without a new scan, with its date shown large. Repair stays blocked on it: a fresh scan is needed.
1.2.1 ·
- New: in the Tables tab, clicking a table shows all its problems, most serious first.
- Scanner results are shown as cards, sortable by severity, category or subject.
- Repair: automatic fixes come first, identical manual steps are grouped on one line with the table names.
- Repair: a Popper emulator whose folder was moved can be reconnected to its new folder, with confirmation and Undo.
- “Check a table” now judges the backglass of every table, reports an expected PuP-Pack and accepts an already unzipped folder.
- Popper: a launch script pointing to a missing file names the file with the same name found elsewhere; APNG wheels left with the old name are reported.
- Fewer false alerts (spare dmddevice copies, repaired copies); new alert when the registry turns off a backglass that VPinballX.ini leaves on.
- Fixes: checkboxes visible on every PC, copying details no longer hangs, touch scrolling, “Full documentation” link to the website.
1.2.0 ·
- New: “Check a table before installing it” lists what will be missing (ROM, backglass, music, fonts, scripts), without copying or running anything.
- During a scan, progress is shown in the middle of the window, in your language.
- The mouse wheel scrolls the page, even over the results list.
- Repair shows a readable name for each fix and, when it is locked, what it will do.
- Fewer false 32/64-bit alerts: PinUP server started as an exe, complete mixed install, .NET “Any CPU” DLLs.
- Popper: false Critical on the Pinball FX emulator fixed, new checks on launch programs and scripts.
- Report: no more empty titles or English subjects, and an inventory is marked “for information”.
- The app is now available in Portuguese (machine translation, not yet reviewed by a native speaker).
1.1.25 ·
- New Critical check: a Popper emulator's games folder is missing, or its launch folder while the script uses it.
- MUSIC_FILE_MISSING: when the music folder is already there, the advice now says to check the file names and numbers.
1.1.24 ·
- The app is now available in Italian (machine translation, not yet reviewed by a native speaker).
- German: the explanation and verification of each entry used to show in English, they are now in German.
- VPINMAME_TOO_OLD: the advice now says to check whether the requested version is stable or beta, and not to lower that number in the script.
1.1.23 ·
- The Scanner page now scrolls at the minimum window size instead of cutting off the results.
- Thanks to the testers in "About", and the text now says the app checks for updates.
- EM_CONTROLLER_B2S_OFF: the text now describes a table loaded in EM mode (LoadEM), without VPinMAME or ROM.
- PuP table whose pack is named in the script: no more wrong B2S_MISSING, and VPX utility tables are no longer reported.
- Repair tab: "Run a scan first" no longer stays on screen after a scan.
1.1.22 ·
- New check EM_CONTROLLER_B2S_OFF: a table loaded in EM mode without "If B2SOn" while B2S is disabled.
- Change journal: "what changed on your cab" between two scans, grouped by table folder.
- New check DOF_CABINET_NOT_READ: Cabinet.xml is present but never read (Note).
- Dedicated advice for music on VPX 10.8.1 build 5436 and later: move it to the music folder.

- Tutorial and Repair introduction: one inaccurate claim removed.

- Backup restore: preview of the files written and removed, and undo works even when the restore only created files.
- The results table no longer slides under the status bar at 1080p and 150% scaling.
- A media file named after a Popper game is no longer treated as orphaned.
- EM table with a fallback VPinMAME controller and no GameName or Run: no ROM required anymore.
- Texts: ALTCOLOR_INCOMPLETE states only the certain fact, and VPX's "This file is corrupt" message is announced after a repaired copy is put in place.
1.1.20 ·
- New check: launch option rejected by a recent VPX 10.8.1 (no table starts).
- Visual Pinball X version shown in the System tab and the health sheet.
- Music: VPX 10.8.1 build 5436 and later taken into account, music stored next to the table is reported for those versions.
- Missing backglass is unimportant when VPX never opens it, with a "no backglass" setting.
- VPX 10.8.1 plugins (PinMAME, FlexDMD, AltSound) taken into account: no more wrong Critical for VPinMAME.
- An Any CPU .NET DLL (B2S, FlexDMD) counts for a 64-bit VPX, and "UsingROM = False" in a script means no ROM.
- "Show essentials only" chip in the Scanner.
1.1.19 ·
- Update offered at startup: the new version downloads, is verified and installs on "Yes", and the old one is kept so you can go back.
- Exports .txt and .pdf: totals at the top and lines of the same type grouped in one block.
- Less noise: no more nFozzy line or "declare VPX 10.x" line when the installed version is enough, and no more "uses FlexDMD / B2S" line per table.
- No false update when the internal version is "VPX" or less precise, and a log file the script only writes to is no longer reported.
- Demo mode repairs a fresh copy, never the shipped demo.
