VBScript engine missing from Windows
What it means
Windows no longer has the engine that runs your table scripts. Your pincab isn't broken — Windows changed.
Why it happens
Microsoft has begun deprecating VBScript, now an optional Windows feature. Every Visual Pinball table script is written in that language: without the engine no table starts at all, and the error shown never mentions VBScript.
How Pincab Toolbox detects it
The file vbscript.dll is missing from Windows\System32, from Windows\SysWOW64, or from both.
What to do
Windows' VBScript engine is missing or disabled. Without it, NO Visual Pinball table can start: that component runs each table's script.
- This is a Windows component, not a Visual Pinball one. It is almost always present: if it is missing, a system cleaner or a security policy removed it.
- Open the Start menu, type "Windows features", and open "Turn Windows features on or off".
- Look for anything like "Internet Explorer" or "WSH" and make sure the box is ticked. VBScript ships with those components.
- Confirm, let Windows install, and RESTART the machine. Without a restart, nothing changes.
- If you used a Windows "debloat" or cleanup tool, it is almost certainly the cause: look for a restore option in its settings.
- Run a new scan after the restart.
