ROM name unreadable in a table's script

Technical code : ROM_NAME_UNKNOWN

What it means

This table uses VPinMAME, but the ROM name could not be read from its script: its ROM cannot be checked automatically.

Why it happens

The table's script calls VPinMAME, but the ROM name is not written in a form the scan can read (for example, it comes from a variable or a function). This is not a sign that the ROM is missing: the scan simply could not check it.

How to fix it

Open the table's script, look for the cGameName line to find the ROM name, and check that this .zip is in the VPinMAME roms folder.

How Pincab Toolbox detects it

The free scanner checks the following:

The scan reads each table's script. When the script drives VPinMAME and no ROM name comes out of it, it says so, instead of announcing « no ROM needed » or giving a green light. The same check exists in « Check a table before installing it ».
